Project Description
This is architect Martin Johannessen’s family home. The remodel of this traditional bungalow was inspired by Danish Contemporary Design. It serves as a showcase for transforming tired spaces into new, inviting, warm & welcoming space.
The objective was to finds ways to make the remodeled, more contemporary spaces work seamlessly with the beautiful traditional cherry woodwork found throughout the home. This was accomplished through careful selections of wood species, stone, tile and other natural materials.
The remodel was a hands-on project completed by the architect with in-house custom-made woodwork detailed specifically for each space. The existing structure underwent significant changes as walls were removed to open the floor plan and directly connect the kitchen to the living and dining spaces and thereby enhancing the flow and feel of the home.
The result…A home that successfully blends traditional and contemporary design!
