Harmoni Designs participated in the second annual Sustainable Cleveland 2019 conference, which objective is to turn Cleveland around from its current disheartened state and into a sustainable Green City on a Blue Lake by 2019. Although a very audacious goal, this is really what the city needs to bring itself back to its glory days. The goal is backed by the mayor, but more importantly, businesses and people from all walks of life are coming together, bringing their shared love for northeast Ohio to the table in order to make this a reality.
The big takeaway from this year’s summit was how far local food growers have come. They are getting national attention for their impressive achievement in successfully expanding the market and making locally grown food more readily available. Although locally grown food still only accounts for a small percentage of the total food consumed in the region, it’s certainly heading in the right direction. Local food is good for business, the environment and if grown and produced correctly, for the consumer’s health and well-being. Let’s hope the locally grown food accomplishments will inspire the other sectors that are needed to reach the 2019 goal.
